Sign Media Canada Presents Prestigious Award to theMEDIAworks at 2014 National Sign Competition

Millbrook, ON – September 9, 2014 Local sign fabricator and merchant, theMEDIAworks received outstanding recognition, when they were announced the winner of Sign Media Canada’s, prominent National Sign Competition in the Building Sign Category showcased this past July in their print and online publication.

The award was presented to theMEDIAworks for their impressive design fabrication and installation of a building sign project for Agency 71 – North America’s leading entertainment branding company with operations in Toronto and Los Angeles.

Local signage projects were amongst theMEDIAworks five submissions considered for an award. They included: The 105′ ft. “Gateway to Trent Severn Waterway” illuminated channel letters lighting the bridge across the waterway; Ashburnham Ale House (located in East City); Hobart’s Steakhouse (in Peterborough and Lindsay); Asta Spirit Plaza Digital Pylon Sign (located on Chemong Rd. in Peterborough).

“It was our first attempt entering a competition of this rank,” reported theMEDIAworks owner, Michael Van der Melen, “our prime focus was to showcase local sign projects for their design innovation and environmental sustainability in a region that demands it. We are elated that our work was deemed worthy of an award with Canada’s best sign makers.”

This was the eighth annual National Sign Competition hosted by Sign Media Canada.

“The 2014 competition attracted hundreds of projects of very high calibre, representing the best of the best from all corners of the Canadian Sign Industry. The judges – members of the Sign Media Canada editorial advisory board – had to consider each entry’s merits in terms of originality, creativity, appearance and design suitability,” said Peter Saunders, Editor of Sign Media Canada. According to Saunders, submissions arrived from across the country, as judges reviewed all of the eligible entries to select one winner in nine categories.

TheMEDIAworks consulted local PR Company, Spark360 Media to help strategically market the company’s evolution and recent rebrand from the former, theSIGNshop.ca. Spark360’s Roula Kovios, qualified and orchestrated the submissions to Sign Media Canada on behalf of the company to achieve a win.
